Around Apt

To the east of Apt you will find the other Luberon and its untouched nature and small villages, blissfully out of the tourists’ trodden paths.

The most beautiful villages

Saignon offers a stunning view of the area from its rocky hill, a large romanesque church Notre-Dame de Pitié, a beautiful traditional square with its fountain and wash-basin, as well as a troglodytic oil press.

Don’t miss the interesting Potager d’un Curieux nearby, a garden planted 30 years ago by Jean-Luc Daneyrolles, with hundreds of rare plants and vegetables.

On the way from Chateau de Mille to Bonnieux, you can visit the Fort de Buoux, a remarkable archeological site with Roman and medieval remains. https://www.provence-mag.fr/sur-le-toit-du-luberon-au-fort-de-buoux/

It is an easy and beautiful walk on the Plateau de Buoux: past the Chapelle Sainte-Marie and the small village of Buoux, along shaded paths lined with poppies and brooms in the spring. Afar, you can gaze at the Grand Luberon mountain and its cliffs, renowned amongst climbers.  https://www.altituderando.com/Pelat-de-Buoux-902m
